RE: Any problems with XP service pack 3?

Well, I installed SP 3 last night and all went well. I have fired up just about everything on this computer and all programs seem to work as they did before so I guess I'm one of the lucky ones :)
Thanks everyone, this forum is always a great place to get up to date info on things like this!

RE: Any problems with XP service pack 3?

What is SP3 supposed to fix ?
That's a good question. I have had no problems with windows the way it is and that's why I'm hesitant to install this update.
This computer is wired so I guess I should have no problems and might as well just do the install.
Thanks everyone for your replies!

Any problems with XP service pack 3?

Windows is wanting to update to XP service pack 3, it has me a little worried because it says to back up everything before the install.
I remember reading a while back where people were having problems with a windows update but I don't remember exactly what it was.
Just wanted to run it past you guys before I do the update.
Thanks very much!

Have you tried rebooting your computer? Sometimes that will get it going again.

RE: Choppy video

You say video and DVD, then you say you tube. If the problem is watching video from you tube or other steaming sites you problem is your Internet connection is to slow, see if you can stream a low quality video and all should be fine
When I said video I was referring to youtube but as I said playing a DVD is a problem and it really isn't watchable.
As an example, watching a youtube series this morning. By series I mean it had multiple parts that started automatically meaning when part one finished than part two would start automatically and on and on through all the parts of the video. The first couple of parts would play fine but after part three they were very choppy and I found it hard to watch.
As I said before trying to watch a DVD is just frustrating. I'm using a DSL wireless connection.
Thanks,
Roy

Choppy video

Well I'm having a problem with the laptop running a lot of videos or DVD's and when watching youtube a lot of the videos keep stopping for several seconds before starting again. Seems like there is a memory allocation problem but I have no idea how to set this to work better for watching videos.
This has had this problem since new and I'm just now getting around to trying to get it fixed.
Bought new just before Christmas it is a Toshiba p205-s7402
It has the 17"screen running vista home premium. Intel core 2duo t5250,
2048mb ram HD DVD superMulti drive, 160gb drive.
Even trying to watch a DVD is frustrating because it keeps stopping every minute or so and a lot of time every 30 seconds or so.
Please tell me if you can how to adjust the settings so I can watch videos like this thing is supposed too.
Thanks very much!

RE: Rotten Egg smell

If you are on shore power I would check the voltage on the house batteries. If it doesn't appear to be above 14 volts the next thing I would do is either unhook the batteries and check the voltage on each one or use a hydrometer and check each cell for a bad one. If its over 14 your charger may be stirring up the cells for a brief period but that doesn't last more than 15 or 20 minutes usually.
If you have a bad cell on one of the batteries the charger will usually keep charging even though the other batteries are fully charged. This could give you the gassing you are smelling. The battery with the bad cell will have about 2 volts less for each bad cell.
I've seen this several times and it may not be a battery issue on your rig but its something you might check if it isn't propane or water smell.
Good Luck!

I thought magnets were best used around your waist to line up fat cells and you lose weight :)

RE: Music Player, What Kind ??

When you plug into the USB does a window come up and say "new hardware found"?
If it does maybe you can click on it and than go to properties and see if it has any info on what it might be.
Just thinking out loud.

Rocks that explode around the campfire

Hello,
This is one that I heard from my dd when she returned from camp this summer.
Never use rocks from the river or creek to build a ring for your campfire. The trapped water inside the rocks will expand and explode when they get hot.
I told her no way I've never heard of that but looking at the forums for Myth busters people seem to agree that it could and a lot of times will happen.
What do you think of that one?

RE: Problems with Hijacker hydraulic camper jacks

I have taken all of these jacks apart and have gotten three of them to work by just cleaning and playing around with them but have one that is just stubborn as he#$. One kit is about $50 and I ordered it so I should be good to go.
Thanks for your responses,

RE: What do u do?

I have been around Automotive and truck repair most of my years, had a automotive machine shop and repair center for 15 years and decided I wasn't busy enough and started a tractor, trailer repair shop as well. Three heart attacks and a stroke later I decided to give it up and become a Realtor. I actually hated being a Realtor and started rehabbing houses. I still buy and sell houses and have a few rentals plus I have a small shop where I repair just about anything but now only take in one or two at a time and most of all I enjoy working on Boats and RV's.

Interesting thread! Been fun reading.

Look at these links:

Good Luck
Thanks for the links, I've looked over these web pages before and I'm pretty sure I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and buy some rebuild kits and get it done.
Thanks very much!

RE: Stove: Can I take the oven part off?

I bet you could get one of the cooktops from a RV salvage yard for fairly cheap.
Seems like that would be the way to go.

Problems with Hijacker hydraulic camper jacks

Hello,
I've been working on my old Lance for a couple of months now as it needed some rot repair and a lot of cleanup after sitting for a few years.
I have the kids all excited to take the camper up to a nice fishing hole that I know of and have fun fishing and camping for a few days but I cant get the dang thing on the truck.
The Hijacker jacks used to take a little fiddling with to get them working but after sitting for a few years I cant get any of them to raise that camper for nothing. Fluid level is fine but when you move the handle up and down their is no resistance and one of the jacks when pumped seems to suck the handle down like it has some spring pressure pulling the handle down. I notice a little fluid around the pump cartridge but nothing major.
I pulled one of the pump cartridges out and all the o-rings look good but I don't really know how the pump is supposed to work. Seems to have a one way valve inside but when I blow into it like if I was pumping the handle I cant get the air I'm blowing in to go anywhere.
I hope you can make heads or tails of what I'm trying to say, I've searched the net for an hour and cant find any info about trouble shooting the jacks that is anymore than just basic info. Doesn't apply to my problem.
So, if you have some experience with these jacks my kids and I would love to hear it! We want to go fishing :(
Thanks in advance for any help you might be with this!!

RE: How can I ID my TT wheel bearings?

I would put bearing buddies on each of the wheels if you havent already got them.
Makes it very easy to keep the bearings greased in the future.
